For more than two decades I have been an A1 audio engineer in New York, mixing live and broadcast for executive events, festivals, and arena tours. A career in live audio is about more than just sound quality. It's about keeping a complex technical system running in real time, in front of an audience, while something was always about to go wrong, and translating between the people who understood the gear and the people who just needed it to work. The gig requires firm realistic diplomacy, with the ability to explain technical facts.
I've always been interested in AI since finding a typewritten manuscript of Ray Kurzweil's "The Age of Intelligent Machines" in a storage closet at Irving Plaza in 2002. The future seemed bright and not too far away.
In 2022 I was contracted as an A1 audio specialist at Google. This was when the foundational chatbots burst onto the scene. I followed closely as the tools seemed to improve exponentially with each new version.
I joined the AI taskforce for the production agency I work through. At my first meeting they said find some use cases of how AI can help make the agency more efficient. I didn't know what use cases were. I asked Gemini, and learned that not only could I identify use cases, I could now build the tools that solved the problem I had identified. This is how I learned to use AI coding agents to make my ideas reality.
During this process is when I learned AI is a tool best used as a collaborator. With that mindset I've been able to build a number of programs that have real world uses. The projects on the home page are what came out of that.
